Manic Music Monday: Tulsa Wedding Photographer

Welcome to another edition of Manic Music Monday. If you missed last weeks post - check it out here.
This weeks song is an older one - but a good one! This song frequented my iPod in college... and let's face it.. it still makes it's way into a playlist now and then.
On a seperate note - I came up with the brilliant idea of painting our entry way and living room on a whim this weekend. So... between shoots I would run home and paint a little. Needless to say, I'm a little tired today. I managed to finish the entry way and am about 70 percent finished in the living room.. just lack those darn vaulted ceilings. No bueno.

So, here's to Tegan & Sara and their ability to keep me awake today. I've got a load of editing to accomplish from this weekend... so stay tuned!

Have a great week!  Make it count!

An Imperfect Perfectionist: Tulsa Wedding Photographer

I am imperfect.  I'll be the first to admit it.  Although, there is some type of programming inside me that screams for perfection.  In my daily life.  In my life in general.  I feel as though perfection is a must.

So let's talk about a big IMperfection of mine: I feel the need to make decisions fast.  I don't want to sit and ponder what the absolute write decision is - I just go with my gut.  Some of you may say this is a good thing.  I, on the other hand, know it is one of my biggest flaws.  Why?  Because when someone does not allow me to resolve an issue or make an abrupt decision I make myself crazy.  I think of any way possible I can get the task/problem/issue finished.  FAST.

When I shoot a session/wedding: I drive myself mad/crazy until I finish the editing process and get everything shipped out to my clients.  If I have emails sitting in my inbox: I have to answer them ASAP or I feel as though I have unfinished business.   Like right now.  I have an email that just popped in to book a session and it's driving me crazy to make myself sit here and finish this blog post rather than answer the email.  When someone says they 'need to think about it' there's a tick in me that goes crazy.  Think?? What's that?? I need you to make your decision now so I can reduce the feeling of having unfinished business!...  I can't handle unfinished business.  I need to feel as though all my edges have been hemmed and no one is waiting on anything from me.  I need to feel finished. whew.  I at least read the email... now I can concentrate on this post.

This is the point when we just need to sit back.  Relax.  Breathe.  If you want to 'think about it' I'm sure I'll be OK.  I can manage.  Take your time.  Just please hurry a little.

You may remember this beauty from this session.  It just makes me relax.  I love it.

History in the Making: Tulsa Engagement Photographer

She's high fashion.  Beautiful.  Outgoing.  Bubbly & Loving.  This drew Jon to Lian, but it was their love for history that brought them together, she laughed as she said it.  Joe is a History teacher and earned a degree in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma.  Lian chose the same path and also earned a PS degree, only Jon ratted her out...  'She doesn't really care about History'... as a smile came across her face. I had to pick something to graduate!

History or not, these two are set to make their own history.  Cheesy?  Probably, but go wtih me here.  Lian ?& Jon, thank you for allowing me to capture a small piece of your lives.  I cannot wait until your summer wedding!  Lian, you will be the most fashionable bride and I'm thrilled to be a part of it all!

Ugh, be for real!  You guys amaze me with your stunning good looks!

Lien, you kill me.  You're Gorgeous with a big 'ol G!

Kids, don't lie to me and tell me you can't take pictures.  You rocked this shoot!

Kisses & Disses: Tulsa Wedding Photographer

Do you ever have those moments where you panic and suddenly want to revert to being 4 again? No?  Really?  It's just me?  Bummer.

Well, I had one of those moments last week.  There I was, sitting on our couch and I got the feeling that my life was spinning out of control.  I couldn't stop what was happening and a tear escaped from my left eye.  darn tear, i thought i had you on lock-down!  It was a brief moment of panic.  But seconds later I turned to my husband and said - you know those moments in life where all you want to do is run and hide, wave your hands in the air and surrender?  I think those moments only make you stronger.  It's those moments you look back on and remember.  Those moments are the ones that mold us all into what we are suppose to become.  They change us. Forever.

It's in that moment you have to make a decision.  You can cry about it, which as far as my mother's concerned never does you any good anyway... it just makes your face red and blotchy, or you can take that next step at becoming who you are suppose to be.  That next step in molding yourself.

They're painful steps.  Scary at times.  But without them we may all still be 4 years old.

And with that, I bring you another edition of Kisses & Disses!

1. All my loving Living Social clients!  You all rocked our socks off last week.  Let me let you all in on a little secret.  When I met with LS they informed me that maybe 10 people would buy into the deal as they have never had success with photographers.  You all SHOWED UP and bought 158 deals!  Kudos friends.  Kudos!
2. My new marketing material!  It came in last week and I'm so excited to share it with you all.  I'll post something soon so you can see it in all it's beauty!
3. Michelle being kicked off the Bachelor!  Yeah, I just went there.  I'm talking about the Bachelor on my blog, again.  Don't hate.  You know you're stoked about this as much as I am!  And if not, well don't hate on a girl for publicly announcing that she watches it.  I've come to terms.

1. Growing up moments.  They're truly not very fun.  And they make locked-down tears escape from the tiny corners of your eyes... kinda like ninja's.  Not cool guys.  Not cool.
2. Left over snow.  If you haven't heard... we all got hit with a brick of snow last week.  Oh, you didn't know?  WELL IT HAPPENED!  And now my little Oklahoma sun is trying to diminish the now black/brown/white/grey mounds of snow. And the bad part?  Every day the back of my pants end up wet because I have lake Michigan flowing through my city.
3. Well, I only have two today.  What can I say?  I'm a happy person and don't want to Diss on too many things.

What are your Kisses & Disses this week?  I'd love to know!

Gas Station Love: Tulsa Wedding Photographer

It was the tenderness Chelsey displayed that drew Joey to her.  Her spirit, so calm and loving, was the thing he couldn't deny.

Joey worked for Chelsey's dad at their family business and had heard the same story over and over again.  J- you've really got to meet my daughter.  She's the girl next door that every guy dreams of.  But he didn't think much of it.  After all, it was just a proud dad boasting on his precious daughter.  That is, until he laid eyes on Chelsey.  Their chemistry was undeniable and what started out as a proud dad boasting - turned into the one thing every person looks for in life: someone to fill in the gaps.

That's what these two do for one another.  Joey lays out the jokes while Chelsey sits back admirably and fills the quiet void in them both.  Through her silence you feel her genuine love and passion for life.  She needs not speak for those around her to feel her sweet spirit.

Joey & Chelsey, thank you for allowing me to capture a small part of your love for one another.  Our puddle jumping was a blast & I'm thrilled our paths crossed!

Here are my new friends Joey & Chelsey.  I hope you enjoy their sweet presence as much as I did.

Look at those fierce eyes.  Those are what God blessed her with.  I had nothing to do with the fierceness they exhibit!

Go on with your bad selves.  How awesome do these guys look?!?
Chelsey & Joey.  Thanks for being so rad.  You made my job so much fun and I think we ended up with some pretty amazing stuff.
