What's Your Story?

It was a Tuesday night, I will always remember that. I spent almost every Tuesday night of my college career at Overflow. On this particular Tuesday night I fought back the tears. Saddened by the realization that I would soon be graduating; that this would be my last night of Overflow as a college student. I was scared as I looked down the long pew filled with those whom I loved enough to consider my family. You see, these people were my rock. I knew deep down that graduating would change everything. Some of us would move on to the next chapter in our lives; while others were being left behind to continue the journey they were currently on. It was in this moment God spoke to me. I knew that moving on and venturing to a new city would bring me to the person God intended for my life. This gave me comfort.

Three years later, it was Tuesday night. He handed me a letter & got down on one knee.

You see, it’s funny. We are so overcome with controlling our own destiny we forget that He already has it all written down. He knew on that dreary Tuesday night back in April 2007 that I would feel saddened and full of fear. But He also knew the joy I would experience by taking that leap & parting from everyone and everything I held close to my heart. He knew because He wrote it all. Everything.

So, now I sit here. I have my someone. I took the plunge that scared me all the way down to my core and I came up on the other side with my person.

Soon enough I will wake up next to him, go to bed next to him and God is even blessing me enough to share every laugh in between with him.

So trust Him. We have such an amazing god. He has your whole life planned out. But remember. He has the best seat to watch it all. My life – well, He made that one a comedy for his pure enjoyment – I know He gets to laugh at me constantly, which makes me so happy.

What story does He have inked down for your life?

  1. Love this post, Alli... definitely a good reminder that God is the author and already knows what's happening and has a plan, even when it's foggy and confusing for me.

Also, I emailed you yesterday so check your email. :)
